<UK CO's Office RAF Mt Pleasant>

"Good luck." Sam told them once again, mentally crossing her fingers as she did so. Now her job was to coordinate things which she noticed once again on her screen she had been tagged as RAF Mt Pleasant temporary CO until the Brit came back from wherever he was. Okay, she can work with that. Reaching over to the radio mic, she pulled it towards her then read off the correct frequencies. Having done that she began typing rapidly. "Assassin, Tango 4, this is Mount Pleasant actual. Be advised you have an SBS team inbound to assist in S and R. ETA 4 hours." An encoded text message was sent.

The rotors lazily turned as 'Kermit' sat there looking like a giant insect of pray from some far gone Paleogene era; the birds pilot sat patiently at the controls with her co-pilot beside her. The load master had taken care of securing the SBS team's RHIB so she only had to wait for the word to go from the team's CO Captain Stone. Chris was well aware of the mission and its importance, she glanced through the rain soaked windshield to see the four escorting AV8B's take off just ahead of her.

"I'm not really keen on asking her about her past, particularly since neither of us really know each other." Jack replied, though he really had to admit, as rumors went, it was far more interesting than the usual rumor mill. Maybe Adrianna would get a kick out of it...

"Eh, I try to avoid Sutcliffe as much as I possibly can. You know me, I'm pretty easy going, but Holy Hannah that woman...insufferable isn't even the half of it. And AJ almost punched her lights out, I guess they got into a rather heated discussion and yeah..." Jack chuckled before taking another bite. His wife really did not like people full of their own egos, and things only got worse once it got personal.

"I've only flown Hornets since I hit the Fleet, we've got nothing else for those of us in the Strike profession. Legacies and Supers, that's all I've done." Jack said, referring to the nickname given to the remaining Charlie and Delta Hornets left in service.

"Now my old man, different story. He started out in F-4 Phantoms with VF-31, the squadron with Felix the Cat on their unit patch. He missed Vietnam by about five years. Then he transitioned to F-14s before I was born, and then got bounced to VFA-151 when they converted to Hornets just in time to fly missions over Iraq during Desert Storm. Right after the USS Midway came home, he retired. Test flew the Super Hornets for Boeing once, he works at the Saint Louis plant." Jack said, "But he still maintains the Phantom was the greatest plane he ever flew."

"My sister's in the Air Force, though, got her wings two years ago. She's flying Strike Eagles out of North Carolina. I guess she was under a lot of pressure by Air Force brass to go for the F-22 or wait on the F-35. Pretty sure she got passed over for 1st Lieutenant because of her refusal to do so." Jack said, and then felt a slight knot in his stomach form, realizing that if things got worse, not only would AJ get deployed, it was highly likely so would Haley.

"If this goes south, this'll be the first time I've flown combat missions. Been in the Navy for eight years now, but never fired a weapon in anger. Dad said this was what the 80s were like, you'd hear about the guys that'd actually have gone into combat, like Libya, Lebanon or Iran, but most of the fleet never saw it. Bit of a generation gap, too, you'd have all the old guys that flew over Vietnam and the guys like my dad who came in afterwards." Jack said. "Now, I think, there's quite a bit of that. Folks like us, excluding one of us, who came in during the draw-downs, and those of us who did fly ops during OIF and OEF."

The patrols hurried into the helos, their heads already wet from the rain as they finally loaded everyone on. Broderick looked at everyone before nodding, they were ready to rock.

"Alright! Let's get this bird up in the air!"

Robert hurried out with the others.  He didn't care about the rain or anything else.  Not now that he was finally given the chance to go after his fiancee.  He just prayed that she was still safe.  He nodded at Broderick.  He was ready to get into the air.

"Dude you most likely don't wanna know about her past. You know it's like we're all on the same team right?" Kyle was reflecting on another past acquaintance from his early days. "My career after fighter school began with the 4477th aggressor Squadron out of the fabled 'area 51' and we had spooks so thick on the ground you'd have thought we were Langley's private airport. Anywho, one of our 'intelligence' officers was also a former CIA operator come in from the cold so to speak. He was an insufferable prick who got up everyone's nose including the CO, which is never a good thing is it?"

Trish was fascinated already, talk about spies and all that cloak and dagger stuff had always intrigued her. "Um, nope."

He continued as if she said nothing. "Colonel Nicholson's previous employment was with the Joint Defence Security Committee at the Pentagon, top clearance dog and I mean top. He decided to do some digging into the guy, you know what? Blank slate. There was a whole ten years of the guy's service record that simply wasn't there. So I figure that is pretty much what we'd learn about Cate if her story is true. Lets leave it at that eh?"

"Aww gee Kyle I thought you were...." She cut off as Bobbie curved a rather serious eyebrow.

Before Hatfield could interject, Kyle finished his little bit. "Getting back to the 4477th, we flew the last F4G's there before they were converted to QF-4's. Dream of a bird to fly if a little heavy. And man, did we score well even on the latest theoretical Mig's of the day. Of course I'm talking fifteen years ago..." he trailed off in a fog.

"Well...you know I'm officially jealous of your sister Lieutenant. If ever I decide to turn my reserve over to full time, I am going to be hounding whoever it takes to get my ass into the F22."

"In your dreams Nugget."

As the banter and conversation continued Bobbie listened to each of them, a good practice that helped learn about your mates and comrades. She was always a good listener. At the appropriate juncture she made the right animations of her face as well, letting them know she wasn't merely sitting there as a piece of furniture, but as Jack knew, she spoke when she had something specific to say, Bobbie wasn't the most sociable woman around; yet if a subject took to her mind you'd be hard pressed to shut her up.

When the talk drifted between Cate and their life experiences, with Bobbie's mouth open to say something, a distinctive sound caught her ear. "Excuse me." She said softly leaving the table to walk over to the large full window. "You all should see this. Something is going down." Her eyes were drawn to the huge Marine CH53 with four attending Harriers lifting off in a cloud of spray.

"Copy that Tower." Chris acknowledged her orders as she pushed the control yoke forward. "Buckle up ladies and gents." She said over the helo's PA when with a sudden lurch and the ubiquitous 'thump thump' of the big bird lifted them off safely into the weather. Quite quickly 'Kermit' along with his three stable mates and the four AV8's were headed for Argentina. Chris called ahead to appraise the ground teams. "Assassin, Kermit inbound. Be advised ETA minus two point seven five, we have a tailwind."

"Captain Stone." She said again over the PA. "Your teams will be dropped at the Paraguayan border with Brazil, that country has given you a ten minute window to pass through their turf, don't screw it up. When you arrive in situ, inform Assassin we are on stand by for exfil."

"Christ almighty." He said. "I'm going to have to earn my pay today." He added, grinning as he picked up the rifle and holstered the pistol. He was just preparing to fire when the SWCC chief came jogging up.

"El tee, we're on alert. You're needed in the TOC." The chief said. "SWCC, we're spooling up. I'll brief you back at the port."

Jack laughed slightly. "Guess we'll have to call it a tie, for now, team." He said. "Gambler, Aron split the pot and meet me at the TOC. Viper on me."

The older man gave a firm nod and Buck and the team began policing the weapons. It was a short jog to the TOC where the American, UK, and other allied leadership had set up. When he walked in, he was surprised to see so much activity.

"What's up?" He asked of the Captain, a Navy man, who was coordinating for JSOC.

"Got a QRF and CAS moving in to support a rescue mission. We need your team squared away and on deck to move in if shit hits the fan." The captain explained. By that point, Jack noticed his team filtering in. "Time to get your frogman on. You'll be staging at secondary exfil. May or may not get heavy."

"Damn. So we get to go play hurry up and wait?" He asked, hearing the sound of rotors spinning up. "That the QRF moving?" A nod was given to him.

"We don't have full command authority here, and talking heads back in Washington want to limit our involvement."

"Thus why the CSG is sitting out in international waters 'observing'." Viper commented wryly.

"Regardless, your team has your orders Lieutenant. Get on it. Your boats should be hooked up and ready to go within the hour."

"Kid, take it from me, you're better off wherever you are and out of the Raptor. Go ask those Raptor drivers about their breathing sometime." Jack said, when the noise got his attention outside. He got up and went over to the window with Bobbie before frowning.

"Well. Guess we'll find out soon enough..." Jack said, trailing off.

Michelle watched as Dingo and Viper headed off to the TOC, before turning to Aron.

"Ah...go ahead and take my half too, sir. Good show." Michelle said, and after helping to clean up their mess, she collected her things and regrouped with Dingo and the others at the TOC, catching enough of what was being told.

"Well, sounds like it's going to be a great big 'ol bag of suck with a side order of fries." Michelle commented quietly.

"Hm, I wasn't planning on keeping it," he muttered a bit while walking over to collect the pot. "Hm, save it for next time...yes." he gathered his personal effects and joined the rest of the SEAL team en route. He didn't much mind the use of hia first name. His campaign was probably too difficult to say, he was thoughtfully aware of that.

Aron filtered into the TOC with the others, thumbs looped into his riggers belt as he took in the situation. He leaned over to Viper and whispered. "This is what you call...a Catfish operation no?" The way it was phrased had it sounding like an innocent question,  but there was no way he wasn't joking. That much would be painfully obvious.

Leah gave a slight scowl at the game being interrupted. No she didn't win, however she was curious to see how she would stack up to members of team six in a shoot out. She usually did well or beat most team guys, but this was her first time doing somthinnsocial like this with DevGru...oh well.

Leah nodded towards the Chief, picking up her aid bag and smoking it over her shoulders. She adjusted the sling of her Mk18 as she joined the Chief and double times it back to the boats for set up. The guns had already been broken down and things were currently being stored for MCADS. "Oh, this should be fun
" she grinned as she stepped into the boat and fell right into rhythm with everyone else.

It wouldn't be too far off, but Leah was in fact close to leading her owm boat. She just had to keep doing what she did best and hope it was the proper material.

<RAF Mt Pleasant Command Center>
*1230 hours*

During the interval between the SBS team leaving and Sam taking a quick lunch, a message came to her from RAF Command in London that the base CO, Air Commodore Rick McLean's flight from a conference in Bermuda had been delayed and she was effectively in command until his return sometime the next day. This didn't sit well with her as she had a Squadron to lead, but she couldn't fight it either, leaving that role in the very capable hands of Captain Kyle Lacosse. She held a brief meeting with all pilots on the base at 1100 hours giving them the latest intel which wasn't good as they had been informed by the Pentagon that both Chile and Venezuela had allied themselves to the coup leaders in Argentina as well as leaving their air assets in situ that had been conducting joint exercises with the former Argentine Air Force over the previous two weeks. The end game meant if air combat was on the cards, they could be going up against Su-30's and F-16's as well as the possibility of the F-7's Argentina had recently acquired.

"Ma'am!" One of the RAF tech's called to her urgently. Sam rushed over, she didn't have to ask, there on the screens it told all. A large formation of unidentifieds coming in from the north west.

"Get in touch with NORAD, find out exactly what they are Sergeant. ETA?"

"Twenty eight minutes Colonel and NORAD called two minutes ago, they are trying to establish something on them, but its proving difficult due to the weather"

"Very well then." Now Sam had to make 'that' call. She grabbed the PA mic. "All pilots, I say again all pilots, scramble, scramble, scramble."

"Keep an eye on them, it may be a test, or even another one of their exercises." Sam was worried, she had to know what her people might be facing.

"Yes ma'am. Oh, the Bush is eight hours away Colonel."

Sam merely nodded, a frown crept across her forehead.

As soon the squadrons were on the tarmac, she'd give follow up orders.  :sam2
